Humanity has achieved incredible things.
But progress has brought us to a perilous tipping point.
Globally responsible engineering can bring us back from the brink.

About Us

Engineers Without Borders Sheffield is a student chapter of Engineers Without Borders UK. We are affiliated with University of Sheffield Students Union.

As part of EWB-UK, we want to break down the barriers of poverty and help humankind achieve sustainability through the good practice of engineering. Within Sheffield and the University we run projects based on sustainability and humanitarian themes, and run regular educational outreach events in schools.

Internationally, there are over 60 Engineers Without Borders organisations, each made up of countless chapters and engineers. Together, we want to put global responsibility at the heart of engineering. A new generation of creative, innovative and socially responsible engineers can transform the world around us, making it fairer, greener and safer.

The more of us there are, and the more connected we are, the more change we can create. Use your engineering powers to disrupt the status quo and make the world a better place.

At The University of Sheffield, we’ve been pushing socially and environmentally responsible engineering up the agenda for the best part of a decade. In that time, we built wind turbines, solar panels, countless pedal power constructions and generally had a great time putting our engineering skills to good use. If you’ve got an idea for an event or project that you would like us to run, don’t hesitate to send us a message.
