EWB’s annual Designathon is back for 2026! π₯
Join us, with a chance of competing alongside students from across the UK in the EWB UK Chapter Design Challenge at the University of Birmingham on March the 7th at the Finals!
- All-day event.
- Teams of up to 5 (can sign up with friends or we’ll match you to a group with others!)
- This year’s theme is on: how we can support peopleβs ability to survive, thrive, and flourish in remote landscapes, with a focus on Cape York, Australia.
- Talks, time to workshop, games, and feedback across the day from professionals on how to make your solution more responsible and effective!
We face urgent global and local challenges, and engineering plays a vital role in shaping solutions that respond to change and reduce inequality. We share a global responsibility β particularly to vulnerable communities β to adapt to evolving conditions and create more equitable futures.
This competition goes beyond theory, focusing on real, community-identified challenges, this year in Cape York, Far North Queensland, Australia, with local perspectives directly shaping the competition resource pack to ensure meaningful, culturally informed impact.
Date: Sunday, 1st of March.
Location: Diamond, room 2.05 (workroom 3).
Time: 9:30am to 5pm.
Open to students from all STEM disciplines and year groups!

We look forward to meeting everyone and having fun!
Kind regards,
The EWB Sheffield team. πβ‘
